Introduction
Producing 1 ton of silicate cement requires grinding 2.5~2.9 tons of materials (including various raw materials, fuel, clinker, admixtures, and gypsum). The grinding operation in a dry-process cement production line consumes over 60% of the plant's total power, with raw meal grinding accounting for over 30%, coal grinding for approximately 3%, and cement grinding for approximately 40%.
Cement production uses limestone and clay as the main raw materials. After crushing and batching, the raw meal is ground in a vertical mill and then fed into a cement rotary kiln for calcination into clinker. The clinker is then mixed with an appropriate amount of gypsum and some admixtures or additives, and further ground into cement by a roller press and cement mill. Finally, it is transported out of the factory by a packaging machine or bulk carrier. The raw materials are dried and ground simultaneously, or dried first, ground into raw meal powder, and then fed into a dry rotary kiln for calcination into clinker. The main advantage is low heat consumption; the heat consumption of clinker in a dry kiln with a preheater is 3140–3768 J/kg.
